Online Iris - Intermediate Watercolor, 2hrs
This Online class is designed for those who already have some Watercolor experience.
Let's take a stroll together in an iris garden while we paint this beautiful iris!
Learn how to transfer a drawing to paper, paint a wet-in-wet background, then paint the folds and ruffles in these delicate petals along with other details. No drawing skills needed.
We meet on-line using Zoom for this class. No account is needed. You'll need your computer setup and working with a webcam prior to our class. Keep in mind I'll need to be able to see your artwork. That could be continuous view of you painting or you can hold you work in front of the camera as needed. You will receive an email the day before your class that will have a link in it that you will use to log into the class.
On the calls day, about 15 min before the class starts, have all your painting supplies at hand and open the email you received yesterday. Click on the link, download Zoom software and you will be taken to a waiting room until the class starts. Please have all your painting supplies and log in using the emailed link 5-15 min before the class. We will begin promptly at the designated start time.
Supplies - The brands I use are not required, but I do recommend artist quality paint (Winsor Newton, Holbein, Daniel Smith, etc.), artist quality paper (Arches, Fabriano, Strathmore 400, Canson XL, etc), and rushes with good points. With that said these are the supplies I will be using for this class:
- Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors: Quinacridone Rose, Quinacridone Gold, New Gamboge, Quinacridone Burnt Orange, Sap Green, Quinacridone Violet, Maganese Violet, French Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cobalt Violet. You do not need all these colors to paint this painting. You can mix these violets. Some of the paints were selected because of the added texture they give.
- Quarter sheet of 140# CP Arches Watercolor Paper (11x15). Using good paper will allow your painting to stay wet longer and tolerate some scrubbing if needed.
- #10 or #14 Round Synthetic W Brushes with good points, 1" Cutter Brush
- Watercolor palette
- White vinyl eraser
- Write-on transparency film
- Paper Towel
- 2 cups of water
