col·or·ist /ˈkələrəst/ noun an artist or designer who uses color in a special or skillful way.
Jodi’s paintings are fresh and filled with emotion. She has a profound understanding of people. The viewer is immediately drawn into her rich compositions. Her figures are beautifully rendered, in a natural, gestural manner that reveals her interest in painting the inner beauty in everything.
As a Colorist, Jodi creates color-filled artwork that helps her cope with the traumatic events she experienced in her lifetime. She lived through childhood abuse which led to two domestic violent marriages, both ending in heartbreak and divorce. These events helped shape her emotionally and are at the center of many fears and anxiety. Jodi's artwork is an expression of what she works on every day - the antonym of her angst: calm, content, peace, quiet, serenity, comfort, solace...
Jodi is also accomplished in Fiber art, Alcohol Inks and Glass work (Stained Glass and Mosaics). Her love of color began in a High School Art Class where she learned that colors created happy, uplifting feelings in herself and others. She is primarily self-taught and shares her knowledge freely as a instructor and guest speaker/blogger. Demonstrations, classes and workshops are also offered.
Jodi has exhibited her award winning artwork throughout the Midwest and the South. Her artwork has also been been displayed in local shows at Lake Farm Park, LaCosecha Galeria, and Stella's Art Gallery. Currently teaching classes and workshops ONLINE.
